The Haze Hotel

Karakoy, Istanbul

The Haze Hotel is located on one of Karakoy’s small, narrow parcels. It is adjacent to the building, which is still known as the İş Bankası building, which is a 2nd degree historical monument. Since it is the end of a long island facing the widest street in the region, it has an important and visible effect on a wide area compared to the size of the parcel. An intense hotel program was solved within this small parcel. Our main criteria are that 15-18 m2 rooms meet all the desired functions and relax with large windows. Considering the ground conditions of the region, although the production of the basements required for hotel service functions is quite difficult, we have been able to gain valuable areas in a small parcel by using special ground improvement techniques. Due to the width and location of the facade, the facade design has become very important. The fact that the facade characteristic layout of the existing Karakoy / Beyoglu district historical buildings are realized with an art-deco interpretation shows that we have reached the goal. Especially, the exterior lighting design becomes a highly applied model that makes us happy.
