LIU Hotel

Bodrum, Muğla

The LIU Hotel project is nestled along the coastal edge of Torba Bay, embraced by the sea to the northwest and the forested expanse to the southeast. The natural topography, marked by a 20-25% gradient within the site’s boundaries, enhances the spatial dialogue between architecture and landscape, creating a seamless interaction with the surrounding environment. The design is conceived to forge a profound connection with the site’s ecological and topographical character, utilizing locally sourced materials and regionally inspired construction techniques to root the project in its context.

The master plan unfolds through four distinct zones, each carefully tailored to harmonize with the landscape and enhance the guest experience:

  1. The Threshold: As the gateway to the hotel, this zone embodies the journey of arrival, encompassing the reception, lobby, bar, and à la carte restaurants. The architecture in this zone is designed to choreograph the guest’s first encounter with the site, framing views of the bay and surrounding nature, and offering a welcoming yet elevated ambiance.
  2. The Veil: This service zone is a discreet yet essential part of the design, hidden in plain sight. It seamlessly integrates the operational elements—service entrance, shuttle routes, and technical volumes—into the fabric of the landscape, ensuring that the hotel’s functional backbone remains out of view while maintaining efficiency.
  3. Sanctuary Residences: This zone offers a private retreat, featuring villas and guest room blocks that are meticulously arranged to offer both seclusion and a deep connection to the natural surroundings. Each residence is positioned to ensure uninterrupted views and maximum privacy, while maintaining an immersive relationship with the sea and forest.
  4. The Oasis: A vibrant epicenter of social life and relaxation, this zone encompasses the hotel’s leisure and entertainment areas, including an amphitheater, pool, pool bar, beach restaurant, spa, fitness center, and cabanas. Designed to blur the lines between indoors and outdoors, The Oasis invites guests to experience the landscape through a series of interconnected spaces that flow effortlessly into one another, promoting both relaxation and social engagement.

The architectural narrative of the LIU Hotel is grounded in its sensitivity to the natural environment, merging contemporary design with the raw beauty of the surrounding context. The project’s spatial hierarchy is shaped by the topography, allowing the architecture to nestle into the landscape, creating a timeless dialogue between form, materiality, and nature.
